Custorian has one voting membership class, Support Membership. There is one set of rights; only the fee differs, and it is set by who is applying.
Support Members hold no vote on the composition of the Board: Board seats are filled by resolution of the sitting Board and presented to the general assembly for ratification. Support Members retain full voting rights on all other matters reserved to the general assembly, including the right to attend, propose agenda items, and vote on the annual accounts and on proposals; the budget is approved by the board and presented to the general assembly for information. Voting requires three months’ continuous membership. No fee level buys influence over the standard: membership never confers, and cannot be exchanged for, certification, and a for-profit member’s own platform or product stays subject to the same independent, accredited assessment as everyone else’s.

All fees are shown excluding VAT. VAT is added at checkout: Danish VAT at 25%, or the VAT rate of your EU country.
Why it exists. Parents are told that children’s safety online is being handled, but rarely get to see whether it works. The alliance will keep parents informed, in plain language, about what is being decided in Brussels and in their own country, and give them a say in it: one clear action with every briefing, member polls that show how many parents back a position, and a yearly parents’ agenda that the alliance takes to decision makers.
How it is organised. Chapters start locally, at a school, a club or a neighbourhood, each led by a parent with a starter kit. As chapters grow, each country gets a national chapter and a country coordinator who speaks to national politicians and media. We will recruit where parents already gather: PTA and parent-council meetings, school parent evenings, schools and education boards, family festivals and parenting fairs.
Membership means: a fortnightly briefing, a vote in alliance polls and on the yearly agenda, the right to elect and stand for the parent council, and recorded expert webinars. It carries no vote at the general assembly and no role in the standard or certification. Alliance membership and Individual Support Membership (€10 / year excl. VAT, with a vote at the general assembly) are separate memberships. A parent who wants both joins both.
Applying registers your Support Membership request, it is not a payment. Applications are reviewed and decided on quarterly by the Board; if accepted, you’ll receive an email with a Stripe payment link to complete your membership (card payment, billed annually). Fees were set by the Board on 21 August 2026 (organisation fee revised 8 September 2026; trust & safety expert and for-profit levels added 9 September 2026) and are pending formal ratification at the next general assembly.
What membership gives you
Membership buys accountability, not access. Members see more, sooner, and vote on what the association does. It confers nothing over the content of the standard, which sits outside the general assembly’s vote entirely (Articles § 5.8).
Fees fund the work of writing and maintaining the standard itself: drafting and revising the control set, verifying every legal citation behind it against primary sources, running the public consultation and the youth panel, and publishing the results openly. The association is non-profit and any surplus is applied solely to that purpose (Articles § 2.2). Because Custorian refuses funding from any platform it could assess (§ 7.7), member fees and individual donations are among the few sources it can accept without compromising the firewall.
Rights under the Articles
- A vote at the general assembly on every matter reserved to it, except Board composition
- The right to attend and to propose items for the agenda (§ 3.4)
- A vote on the annual accounts, which the Board recommends and the assembly approves (§ 4.4(c), § 5.13)
- The right to ratify or refuse each Board appointment put to the assembly (§ 3.4)
Voting requires three months’ continuous membership (§ 4.8).
What members receive
- Quarterly member briefing. Board decisions and the reasoning behind them, sent to members before the public summary is posted.
- Standard change notices. What changed between control-set versions and why, in plain language, when a version ships.
- Named in the member roster. Listed by category on the public roster, with consent. Names are never published without it.
- An annual open call with the editor ahead of the general assembly, so that agenda items members propose are informed ones.
