Terms of use.

The terms for using custorian.org and for joining, donating to, or paying Foreningen Custorian.

Foreningen Custorian CVR 46399455 Copenhagen, Denmark Version 1.0 · effective 7 September 2026

Who you're dealing with

custorian.org is operated by Foreningen Custorian, a Danish frivillig forening (non-profit membership association), CVR 46399455, registered in Copenhagen, Denmark. These terms apply to anyone using this website, joining as a member, or making a donation.

The website and the standard

Information on this site is published in good faith for general, informational and transparency purposes; Custorian gives no warranty as to its completeness and updates it as governance and the standard evolve. The CDSW Standard itself is published under CC BY-ND 4.0: you may share it in unmodified form with attribution; you may not sell it, exclusively license it, or distribute modified versions. The “Custorian” name and the “Custorian Certified” mark are Custorian's, and are licensed only to platforms certified by an accredited, independent certification body under the published scheme; certification is never issued by Custorian itself. See Governance.

Membership

Custorian has a single membership class, Support Membership, described in full on the Governance page, including current fees and who is eligible. Commercial platforms and companies are not eligible for membership except through the dedicated for-profit tier. Paying the membership fee registers your application; admission is confirmed by the Board under the association's statutes. Membership dues are billed annually via Stripe (card) and can be cancelled at any time before the next renewal; see the cancellation terms on the Governance page, which these terms incorporate. Membership confers no influence over certification, grading, or the standard's technical content beyond an equal, democratic vote where applicable, and no right to use the “Custorian Certified” mark.

Donations

Custorian is registered with Indsamlingsnævnet (the Danish Fundraising Board) under §3 of Indsamlingsloven to run a public donation appeal. Donations accepted through custorian.org are from individuals only; Custorian does not accept donations, grants or sponsorship through this channel from platforms, companies or organisations. Donations are voluntary gifts, final and non-refundable once received, and are not currently tax-deductible in Denmark. See the cancellation terms for recurring donations on the Governance page, which these terms incorporate.

Payments

Card payments are processed by Stripe; MobilePay and bank transfer are supported alternatives for donations, described on the Donation Agreement page. Custorian never receives or stores your card number or MobilePay credentials; that data is handled entirely within the payment provider's own secure systems, under their own terms. Card payments are charged in EUR; MobilePay and Danish bank transfer are in DKK. A failed or disputed payment may result in the associated membership or pledge not being honoured until resolved.

Acceptable use

Don't use this website to submit false, abusive, or unlawful content through its forms, attempt to circumvent its security, or misrepresent your affiliation with a platform, organisation, or individual. Custorian may decline a membership application, refuse a donation, or remove content submitted in breach of this.

Liability

To the extent permitted by Danish law, Custorian is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of this website or reliance on published information. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Danish law. Any dispute that cannot be resolved directly is subject to the jurisdiction of the Danish courts.

Changes to these terms

We will update this page as membership, donation or payment arrangements change, and note the effective date above. Material changes affecting existing members or recurring donors will be communicated by email.

Status. These terms are published to describe Custorian's actual current membership, donation and payment practices, and to meet payment-provider requirements. They are being reviewed alongside the association's other governing policies; see Governance for the full policy set.
